Unless you consider “any publicity is good publicity” as a strategy, who would want to be part of Nickelback? There are certainly bands that are much worse. Heck, The Monkees and Spinal Tap were fictitious bands that ended up touring. I am indifferent regarding their music. I like some of it but how does a band go platinum and remain so hated? It makes no sense but it is en vogue to hate them.
This skit on The Late Late Show with James Corden, “‘Fantastic Beasts’ of the TSA w/ Eddie Redmayne” is a brilliant way to promote the now-released movie. It is the story of Newt Scamander, his character in the new Harry Potter film, dealing with TSA airport security.
We have all seen stupid warning signs and labels before. This post is going narrow the dumb factor specifically to labels and signs that prevent Darwinism. That said a formal definition is in order but before that a few disclaimers.
First off, if you are easily offended by sarcasm, you may wish to stop reading now. Secondly, links will be provided to actual signs when possible, however, these links may cease to function shortly after the post date. These type of images on the web have a tendency to vanish. Finally, please keep in mind that this a satirical, humorous post… not to be taken too seriously. I do not actually endorse removing stupid people from the gene pool.
Definition of Darwinism
1: a theory of the origin and perpetuation of new species of animals and plants that offspring of a given organism vary, that natural selection favors the survival of some of these variations over others, that new species have arisen and may continue to arise by these processes, and that widely divergent groups of plants and animals have arisen from the same ancestors.
2: a theory that inherent dynamic forces allow only the fittest persons or organizations to prosper in a competitive environment or situation.
In layman’s terms, it is often termed “survival of the fittest”. In the context of this post, definition 2 is more relevant. Mainly the focus is that our society is so protective that we let too many survive. This post is themed “stupid people shouldn’t breed” or “death to the dumbest”.
A few days ago, I got on my soapbox about the edible laws in Texas. Actually, I let a few musically talented attorneys do most of the talking. I thought I would share some more of their wisdom today… trust me, just shut up and listen.
Thanks for listeing. If you enjoyed the video, you may wish to subscribe to the singing lawyers on YouTube.
We all do dumb things. The two individuals I am about to mention, take it to an entirely new level. Arsenio Hall coined the phrase “things that make you go hmmmm”. I actually have that phrase as a category here. Check out these morons in the news.
Changing Times Regarding Medical Marijuana While Texas Lags Behind
While surprised by many of the results in our recent election, the number of states legalizing marijuana is not on my list. According to this 2015 article at Pew Research Center support for marijuana legalization has been growing, younger generations are even more in favor of it, and nearly half of all Americans have tried it.
I am not here to argue about whether recreational use should be legal. I have said for decades that the criminal charges for possession are far too harsh and that it is incomprehensible that it is not already legal for medical use. At my age and with my health issues, I currently do NO recreational drugs, legal or otherwise.
