I knew a good bit about the famous hacker, geohot.  He has a major league talent as a hacker.  He would be what we call a “l33t”.  For my older readers, unfamiliar with l33tsp34k, that is hacker-geek for “elite”.  This 26-year old’s most recent accomplishment is, according to Bloomberg and other sources, an autonomous car!

In the past, he has also:

  • been credited for the first to hack the iPhone, way back when he was still in high school
  • hack the Play Station and get sued by Sony
  • and much more

What I didn’t know, until I heard mention of it on a podcast, he also spits rhyhms.

My Ongoing Techno-Curse

My Love-Hate Relationship with Technology

While many compliment me regarding my ability to resurrect ancient hardware by installing and using Linux, I often refer to myself as one who is technologically cursed and impaired. Yes, I do have a Mac G5 running Debian, an old P4 running Ubuntu, an E1000 running Crunchbang, and a dual booting crunchbang/Ubuntu Studio Core2 Duo. However, the only way to actually do anything is to run all of them by linking them through Synergy and using one each for only one or two functions. Most of the time, it actually works pretty well, all be it slowly. Continue reading “My Ongoing Techno-Curse”

An Endless Wave Machine

The Kelly Slater Wave Machine

While I have no experience what so ever regarding surfing.  One thing I do know you can’t surf if there are no breaking waves.  Thanks to the Kelly Slater Wave Company, there is a technological option.  They are calling Kelly’s Wave.  I think it is one neat bit of technology which is, in my opinion, best described as an endless wave machine.

Check out the video I found over at Gizmodo.  It seem pretty cool and the surfer never has to run into the beach.

Orion Re-entry from the Astronaut’s Perspective

Space is kewl.  The exploration of it can be rather frightening.  I don’t know if I possess the bladder and anal sphincter control to be an astronaut. Then again, maybe that is why the Apollo suits had built in toilets. Check out the video below for what re-entry would look like.

The Space Debate

Anyone who knows me knows that I am a huge supporter of space exploration.  I can’t help it, I grew up with “One small step for man…”.  The Apollo Program, Skylab, and the Space Shuttle were, in my opinion, awesome.  While I personally support manned exploration of space and projects like the Space Station, I am also aware that this a subject of valid debate.  Furthermore, I am a skeptic when it comes to such grandiose ideas like colonizing Mars.

I feel that this is a serious matter and debate.  I also feel that any topic is fair game for comedy and satire.  This tongue and cheek spoken word video has much fun with the very idea of space exploration.
